Atrium Health Navicent encourages parents and caregivers to join the health system in observing National Infant Immunization Week, April 24-30, by ensuring that their children, particularly those age 2 and younger, stay on track for routine check-ups and recommended vaccinations. As we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians recognize the critical role vaccination plays in protecting our children and communities from not just COVID-19, but many other vaccine-preventable diseases.

Multiple Advocate Health and Atrium Health leaders have been named to Becker’s Hospital Review annual list of “Black Healthcare Leaders to Know 2023.” The list honors Black leaders across the country for their commitment to health care. “Their viewpoints are crucial to the foundation of organizations, programs and partnerships that foster health equity and inclusion,” the publication stated in a press release. “Diversity in leadership, particularly at the executive level, lends healthcare organizations a broader perspective and a deeper understanding of their clients and employees. Becker’s Healthcare is honored to highlight these leaders, whose work contributes to positive patient experiences and paves the way for the next generation of leaders.” Leaders from Atrium Health, which is now part of Charlotte-based Advocate Health, who are featured on the esteemed list: • Eugene Woods, CEO of Advocate Health.
Atrium Health Navicent Welcomes First Tax Day Baby

Today at 8:14 a.m. a Macon family welcomed baby John Thomas Cote into the world, and he was recognized as the first baby born on April 18th “Tax Day” at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center. As this year’s Tax Day Baby, John was awarded $1,529 for his Path2College 529 Plan to help him achieve his future educational goals. “We are both teachers and we value higher education,” said John’s mother, Jessica Arnold. “This is remarkable and thank you.” The hospital and the state of Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan partner each year to raise awareness about the importance of saving for college and financial planning, along with the advantages of saving in the Path2College 529 Plan. “We are excited to help John jump-start his college savings with this contribution, and we hope that many more families with young children will use tax time to begin planning for their children’s education,” said Georgia Student Finance Commission President Lynne Riley.
Harrington House at Carlyle Place Maintains Five-Star Quality Rating

Harrington House, the skilled nursing center at Carlyle Place, a Life-Plan Community of Atrium Health Navicent, has maintained its “Five-Star Quality Rating” from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Five-Star Quality Rating System was established to help consumers, their families and caregivers in comparing nursing homes by assigning ratings of between one and five stars.

Congestive heart failure and diabetes disproportionally affect Black individuals Congestive heart failure and diabetes are two diseases that disproportionately affect Black individuals, causing devastating health effects. In conjunction with National Minority Health Month, Atrium Health Navicent has announced an expansion of Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities’ Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes Disease Management programs into Baldwin and Peach counties.

Physicals for student athletes from Central, Northeast and Southwest high schools will be offered on Tuesday, March 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Central High School, located at 2155 Napier Ave, in Macon.
