Pre-Operative Appointment

SURGERY AT TMCPC

If you are coming to Atrium Health Navicent Peach for surgery, a pre-operative appointment will be scheduled by your physician's office, or someone from our staff will call you prior to your procedure to set up a date. Please bring all paperwork given to you by your medical doctor pertaining to your procedure with you.

Once you are registered, the outpatient nurse will complete a health history, review your current medications, get your signature on consent forms and review your tests. The nurses will answer questions you may have, prepare you for your procedure and tell you the time to arrive at the hospital.

Your pre-operative visit will take about an hour and may include x-rays, EKG, blood work and other laboratory studies. You may also be seen by the anesthesia nurse, who will discuss the anesthesia to be used for your procedure. Test results, consultation reports and other data will be reviewed. Any concerns will be brought to the attention of your physician and the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

If further testing or additional consultation is necessary, you will be notified by telephone. Our goal is to identify and correct potential complicating factors so that your surgery will proceed as planned.
