Atrium Health Navicent Peach
Day of Your Surgery
SURGERY AT TMCPC
On the day of surgery, please be sure to arrive at the time you were given at your pre-operative visit. Remember, your surgery could be canceled if you are late.
If you are to arrive before 7:00 am, please enter through the ER Lobby.
As part of our comprehensive effort to make your experience at Atrium Health Navicent Peach as comfortable as possible, our staff has prepared the following information:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing and low heeled shoes which will make it easier to dress following surgery; be sure to dress warmly for the trip home, which will decrease your risk of surgical site infection
- If you are having hand or foot surgery, you will be required to remove all jewelry and nail polish (including artificial and acrylic nails).
- If you wear glasses, contacts or hearing aids, bring along a case to store them in while you are in surgery.
- For your safety, rings, jewelry and body piercing must be removed prior to surgery. If you cannot remove your rings, a jeweler can, and he should be able to size the ring to fit you properly. Please leave all jewelry at home.
- Bring crutches, walker or cane if you will need them.
- Overnight patients may want to bring their own personal items (hairbrush, comb, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste), a book or magazine, and personal items such as your pillow, contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures and prostheses.
- Please don't bring valuables such as credit cards, jewelry, wedding rings and large amounts of money, to the hospital. The hospital cannot assume responsibility for the safekeeping of these items.
There is no need to bring your regular medications but please bring a list of your current medications with you. If you are spending the night, bring your inhaler and eye drops only. Your physician may prescribe medication for you to take home.
Once you have arrived, you will be escorted to the preoperative area where your pulse, temperature, respiration and blood pressure will be taken.
You will be asked to change into a gown provided by the hospital. Your clothes will be placed in a secured area until you are ready to be discharged.
The CRNA and your surgeon will see you before your surgery. Family members are welcome to wait in our family waiting area or in the outpatient room with you.
