Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency

Curriculum

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Atrium Health Navicent is a Mercer University School of Medicine affiliated program that accepts 4 interns per year giving us a total complement of 16 residents annually. We have rigorous specialty and sub-specialty services that give our residents the experience necessary to practice in any setting. We have a Perinatal Regional Outreach Program that services 29 counties providing high risk obstetrical care in which our residents are heavily involved. Our Urogynecology and Gynecologic Oncology services also provide care for more than 30 counties in the Middle Georgia area and our residents are again front-line caregivers for these patients. These higher levels of care services provide the pathology and varying treatment options that give our residents an edge in the fellowship and post graduate job market.

The primary focus of all faculty members is the education of residents. Our residents have protected weekly didactic time where all faculty members participate to provide a comprehensive learning experience. These include:

  • Monthly morbidity and mortality conferences
  • Monthly journal clubs
  • CREOG reviews
  • Written and oral board prep
  • Practice Bulletin/Committee Opinion reviews
