The Obstetrics and Gynecology Program of Mercer University School of Medicine educates students in the special health care needs of women to assure proper management of female patients by all physicians no matter what area of medicine they may ultimately practice. We offer comprehensive training in general obstetrics and gynecology, as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Uro-gynecology, and Gynecologic Oncology sub-specialties, to rotating third and fourth year medical students.
Students gain knowledge and experience in ambulatory and inpatient settings, as well as different clinical practices. Third year student rotations are six weeks in length and fourth year students typically spend two to four weeks on the different rotations offered by our department. Because students are an integral part of the obstetrics and gynecology team, they also gain valuable experience by taking night call with residents and faculty. Students participate in departmental educational activities as well.
