Atrium Health Navicent Partners with Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. to Provide COVID-19 Vaccines

In partnership with the Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, Atrium Health Navicent is providing COVID-19 vaccines to participants in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Nurses from the Atrium Health Navicent mobile vaccine team will provide vaccinations at distribution events at Saint Paul AME Church, 2501 Shurling Drive, on April 27, April 29, and May 4 beginning at 8 a.m. “Atrium Health Navicent is proud to partner with the Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council to vaccinate these residents to help slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “To help ensure equitable access to healthcare, our mobile vaccine unit is taking shots directly to vulnerable populations who may otherwise have difficulty obtaining a vaccine.

A CDC report released in May 2020 noted a drop in routine childhood vaccinations as a result of families staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Atrium Health Navicent Provides COVID-19 Vaccines to Brookdale Warming Center Residents

Families in need receive COVID-19 protection As part of its commitment to serve vulnerable residents, Atrium Health Navicent partnered with Macon-Bibb County to vaccinate Brookdale Warming Center residents on Friday, providing protection against COVID 19. “Atrium Health Navicent is proud to partner with Macon-Bibb County to vaccinate these residents and help slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “Community partnerships are a key strategy in our work to improve equitable access to healthcare, particularly COVID-19 vaccines which are key in fighting this deadly pandemic.” The Warming Center, located in the former Brookdale Elementary School, was opened in January to provide the homeless and families in need with a warm, safe place to stay. The Center has remained open and is providing shelter and meals to those in need while a more permanent solution is created. “We have worked to provide any service the residents at the Warming Center needed, recognizing they may not have transportation to reach those services or even know where to go,” said Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller. “Thank you to Atrium Health Navicent for bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to these residents and helping make sure they are protected from the pandemic.” Atrium Health Navicent continues to provide public vaccination services at sites in Baldwin, Bibb and Peach counties by appointment.

The in-person event planned for 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but has been transformed into a virtual event for 2021.

New integrated, multi-disciplinary program available at Atrium Health Navicent A new multi-disciplinary Hip Fracture Program at Atrium Health Navicent is seeking to shorten hospital stays and reduce complications and readmission rates. Launched in 2020, the program helps patients who sustain hip fractures from a variety of causes ranging from falls at ground level or from a ladder to car crashes.
Atrium Health Navicent Provides COVID-19 Vaccine to Homebound Residents

Vaccinations to be provided to residents in Baldwin, Bibb, Monroe and Peach counties identified by the Area Agency on Aging and Georgia Department of Public Health Atrium Health Navicent is partnering with the Georgia Department of Public Health to vaccinate homebound individuals in four counties who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to receive a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Nurses began visiting the homes of individuals identified by the Area Agency on Aging and Department of Public Health on Thursday, April 1. “As a health system, Atrium Health Navicent is working to bridge barriers to vaccine access in the communities we serve, ensuring the most vulnerable among us are able to receive protection against COVID-19,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “By partnering to reach those in need, Atrium Health Navicent is working on the front line to slow the pandemic’s spread.” While the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose to be administered, nurses providing the vaccinations are skillfully working around logistics as they vaccinate individuals over a broad geographic area.
