PTSD Awareness Month is Observed Each June Although vaccines are now available to protect most people aged 12 and older from COVID-19, effects may linger for some time in the form of post-traumatic stress and some individuals may be diagnosed with PTSD. In recognition of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month, Atrium Health Navicent urges the community to become educated about mental illness, reduce stigma associated with PTSD and help ensure that those who suffer from PTSD receive proper treatment.

Virtual “Stop the Bleed” training to be held June 28 MACON, Ga., June 24, 2021 - The community is invited to participate in a free virtual “Stop the Bleed” training session presented by Atrium Health Navicent, the Region 5 Regional Trauma Advisory Committee and Air Evac Lifeteam. The class will meet virtually using the Zoom meeting platform on Monday, June 28 at 10 a.m. “Stop the Bleed” is a national campaign that seeks to save lives by educating and equipping bystanders to help in a bleeding emergency until emergency responders arrive.

Vaccines are available for individuals aged 12 and older MACON, Ga., June 25, 2021 - Atrium Health Navicent, Bibb County Schools, the Georgia Department of Public Health and Macon-Bibb County announced a vaccine partnership on Friday that will offer COVID-19 vaccines to students, parents and school staff in preparation for students’ return to full-time in-person instruction this fall. Vaccines have been approved for use in children aged 12 and older.

Premature and very young infants are most at risk for RSV infection Medical professionals, both nationally and at Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health, have noted an unseasonal increase in the number of babies diagnosed with the Respiratory Syncytial Virus, better known as RSV. RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms and is most prevalent in Georgia during the fall and winter months.

Mobile Team Takes Vaccines to Residents As part of a commitment to help provide equitable access to healthcare, Atrium Health Navicent has partnered with the Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council Inc. and the Macon Housing Authority to provide COVID-19 vaccines. “At this phase in the pandemic, it’s especially vital that we bridge barriers to provide vaccine access to individuals who may have difficulty traveling to a vaccine site,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “We’re thankful for community partnerships which extend our reach, improve vaccine access and ensure that anyone who wishes to receive a vaccine can be afforded that opportunity.” Atrium Health Navicent’s mobile vaccine team provided vaccines at Bowden Homes, Grove Park and Davis Homes this week. “Once again, Macon Housing Authority is proud to partner with Atrium Health Navicent and the Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council (EOC) to make COVID vaccines available to hundreds of MHA and EOC customers,” said Macon Housing Authority CEO Mike Austin. “Through the collaboration, Atrium Health Navicent will be able to deliver and administer this important vaccine to many individuals and families.” The mobile vaccine team also has been visiting the housing authority’s senior towers since February, providing COVID-19 protection to senior residents. “The Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council Inc. is excited about our partnership with Atrium Health Navicent to bring vaccines to MHA sites,” said Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council CEO Sarita Hill. Grants to Provide Health Career Experience for College, High School Students Navicent Health Foundation has approved grants totaling $60,000 over three years to fund internships providing local high school and college students experience in the healthcare field. “Atrium Health Navicent is excited to partner with Wesleyan College, Hutchings College and Career Academy and the Navicent Health Foundation to help train the healthcare workforce of tomorrow and prepare these students to be competitive in the job market upon their graduation,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “These partnerships are examples of how Atrium Health Navicent is working to help ensure a brighter future not just for students enrolled in these programs, but also for the central Georgia economy through helping provide a trained workforce for years to come.” The Atrium Health Navicent and Wesleyan College Key Internship Program will allow students to gain paid clinical or non-clinical health career experience. College juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for acceptance into the program.
