Atrium Health Navicent to Hold Community Food Distribution

Food available first-come, first-served July 21

Atrium Health Navicent and its community partners will be holding a community food distribution drive-thru event in the parking lot of Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care West, 3780 Eisenhower Parkway in Macon on Friday, July 21. From 9 a.m. to noon, those in need can receive fresh fruit, produce and other pantry items.

The more than 40,000 pounds of food will be available while supplies last and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals are asked to enter the food distribution site via Bloomfield Road and to follow police officers’ directions.

Anyone without transportation is welcome to walk up and receive food if they’re able to carry the food home. Individuals in cars will be asked to exit via Log Cabin Drive.

“Access to healthy food is an essential part of improving our community’s health. This food distribution event is just one more way Atrium Health Navicent is partnering to help bridge barriers for those suffering from food insecurity and get them on track to living healthier lives,” said Atrium Health Navicent President Delvecchio Finley. “Small, healthy changes on a family level can make a big difference to the overall health of our community.”

Atrium Health Navicent will additionally be providing information at the event about the ongoing Georgia Medicaid “redetermination process.” Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids members are urged to update their contact information at gateway.ga.gov as an active step to maintain coverage as the state performs a post-COVID-19 pandemic eligibility check.

Patients who have appointments to see a health care provider at Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care West on Friday morning are asked to enter the parking lot from Log Cabin Drive and follow police officers’ directions. Food and nutrition assistance is additionally available at the Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities Food as Medicine Market on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and Tuesday mornings by appointment. For additional information, or to schedule an appointment, call 478-633-5656.

Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities recently received the Georgia Hospital Association’s Community Leadership Award in recognition of the department’s programming and services which aim to reduce health disparities in central and south Georgia.
