Atrium Health Navicent to Hold Community Food Distribution
Atrium Health Navicent and community partners will be holding a community food distribution drive-thru event in the parking lot of Atrium Health Amphitheater, 3657 Eisenhower Parkway, in Macon on Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Three tractor trailer trucks filled with fresh fruit and vegetables will be distributed while supplies last and on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals are asked to enter via Bloomfield Road by vehicle and follow directional signage to enter the drive-thru pick-up line.
“Access to fruit and vegetables is essential to maintaining a healthy diet. We hope the fresh produce families receive will help fill plates with healthy food in the short term, but also offer education and an opportunity to try a variety of foods for lifelong healthy nutrition,” said Atrium Health Georgia President Delvecchio Finley. “We’re thankful for the generous support of our partner agencies and the many volunteers who have worked together for the last four years to make the event a success.”
In 2024, 100,000 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables was distributed to 3,000 families who arrived at the event in 2,000 cars. Partners in the food distribution include the Society of St. Andrew, the Southeast Produce Council and Horace Holmes Ministries.
Food and nutrition assistance is also available at the Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities Food as Medicine Market on Monday and Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m., and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment. For additional information, or to schedule an appointment, call 478-633-5656.
