Atrium Health Navicent Welcomes First Tax Day Baby

Today at 8:14 a.m. a Macon family welcomed baby John Thomas Cote into the world, and he was recognized as the first baby born on April 18th “Tax Day” at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center. As this year’s Tax Day Baby, John was awarded $1,529 for his Path2College 529 Plan to help him achieve his future educational goals. “We are both teachers and we value higher education,” said John’s mother, Jessica Arnold. “This is remarkable and thank you.” The hospital and the state of Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan partner each year to raise awareness about the importance of saving for college and financial planning, along with the advantages of saving in the Path2College 529 Plan. “We are excited to help John jump-start his college savings with this contribution, and we hope that many more families with young children will use tax time to begin planning for their children’s education,” said Georgia Student Finance Commission President Lynne Riley.

Harrington House at Carlyle Place Maintains Five-Star Quality Rating

Harrington House, the skilled nursing center at Carlyle Place, a Life-Plan Community of Atrium Health Navicent, has maintained its “Five-Star Quality Rating” from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Five-Star Quality Rating System was established to help consumers, their families and caregivers in comparing nursing homes by assigning ratings of between one and five stars.

In conjunction with National Minority Health Month, Atrium Health Navicent has announced an expansion of Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities’ Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes Disease Management programs into Baldwin and Peach counties.

The community is invited to join Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center in recognizing March as National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer, a combined term for colon cancer and rectal cancer, is the third most common cause of cancer death in the United States.

Visitation policy is used to protect patients, visitors and caregivers

Effective Monday, Aug. 7, visitation for Atrium Health Navicent’s Family Birth Centers and related areas will be expanded. Patients in labor and delivery and postpartum units at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center and Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin will be allowed four visitors daily.

Atrium Health Navicent to Offer Free Sports Physicals for Bibb Schools Student Athletes

Students must bring signed consent and waiver forms Atrium Health Navicent is partnering with Bibb County Schools to offer free sports physicals for area student athletes. Physicals for student athletes from Central, Northeast and Southwest high schools will be offered on Tuesday, March 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Central High School, located at 2155 Napier Ave, in Macon.

Funds will be used to improve musical playground and address young patients’ needs Atrium Health Navicent and Panda Express announced today that the restaurant group has committed to raise $441,992 to benefit Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital by Dec. 31, 2030. Funds will be used to improve the existing musical playground outside the children’s hospital, and to address young patients’ needs.

At least 2.8 million Americans sustain traumatic brain injuries each year March is Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month, and health professionals at Atrium Health Navicent Rehabilitation Hospital want the community to become aware of tips for prevention, and to know that if an injury does occur, treatment options are available close to home. A traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when an external force or impact injures the brain and causes an alteration in brain function.
