In 2019, 185 children died due to firearm incidents in Georgia Atrium Health Navicent is participating in the Georgia Stay SAFE campaign by helping raise awareness about the prevention of firearm injuries in children and take steps to ensure guns are stored safely. In 2019, there were 563 emergency department visits for unintentional shootings involving children and teens in Georgia.

Men have a higher risk than women for heart disease, cancer and unintentional injury deaths In addition to celebrating fathers and father figures this June, Atrium Health Navicent invites the community to observe Men’s Health Month, a time when men are encouraged to make their health a priority and complete prescribed health screenings. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), men in the U.S. on average die five years earlier than women, and die at higher rates from heart disease, cancer and unintentional injuries.

With the days getting hotter, Atrium Health Navicent encourages the community to take care when cooling off in pools and natural bodies of water such as rivers, lakes and the ocean to reduce drowning risk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children aged 1 to 14.

Health system announces third increase to minimum wage in two years As part of Atrium Health’s commitment to offering market competitive compensation and benefits programs, the health provider is investing $2.3 million into teammate compensation, including an increase to the minimum wage at Atrium Health Navicent. Beginning July 10, the new minimum wage will be $13.50 for entry-level roles at Atrium Health Navicent, a one dollar per hour increase over the current minimum.

The Five-Star Quality Rating System was established to help consumers, their families and caregivers in comparing nursing homes by assigning ratings of between one and five stars.
