Members of the community joined Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care Fort Valley, a facility of Atrium Health Navicent Peach, to celebrate a ribbon cutting ceremony March 14. The facility opened its doors to patients in a new location, 201 Avera Drive in Fort Valley, on Jan. 8.

The community is invited to join Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center in recognizing March as National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer, a combined term for colon cancer and rectal cancer, is the third most diagnosed type of cancer and the second most common cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States.

Atrium Health Navicent Peach CEO Laura Gentry has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 110 Rural Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know in 2024 list. Gentry, who additionally serves as vice president for Atrium Health’s Georgia market primary care service line, was also included on the list in 2022 and 2023.

Initiative to reduce blood clots in patients has been recognized by The Georgia Hospital Association Atrium Health Navicent has been presented with a Georgia Hospital Association Patient Safety and Quality Award for the project, “Preventing VTE.” The project won third place for improving patient safety in a hospital with more than 300 beds. The annual Patient Safety and Quality Awards recognize Georgia health care organizations for achievement in reducing the risk of medical errors and improving patient safety and medical outcomes.

The Navicent Health Foundation named Lily Kinsey, 3, as Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital’s 2024 Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) champion during a ceremony Monday. As a newborn, Lily was diagnosed with ABO Incompatibility, a condition in which a baby’s blood type is different from the birthing parent’s blood type.

Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center is First in Central Georgia to Successfully Place Barostim Implant

In January, Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center became the first health system in central Georgia to perform a Barostim implant in a heart failure patient. The implant stimulates natural sensors in the body that tell the nervous system how to regulate heart function and helps to relieve symptoms of heart failure by reducing the heart’s workload and improving the heart’s pumping efficiency. “Our bodies have a sympathetic system, also known as the ‘fight or flight system,’ and the parasympathetic system which calms us down.
