First “Tax Day Baby” Born at Atrium Health Navicent Receives $1,529 for College
For the ninth year, Atrium Health Navicent and the state of Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan partnered to award the first “Tax Day Baby” born at the hospital with a college savings contribution. Baby Oaklynn June London was recognized as the first baby born on April 15, and she was awarded a $1,529 contribution to her Path2College 529 Plan.
“This is such a nice welcome into the world and a really nice start to have for her education,” said Oaklynn’s mother, Leigha Taylor Gary.
The Tax Day Baby partnership was established to raise awareness about the importance of saving for college and financial planning, along with the advantages of saving in the Path2College 529 Plan.
“Oaklynn faces a future full of opportunities and we’re excited to be among the first to welcome her and celebrate with her family. To help her to achieve her future goals, Atrium Health Navicent is proud to partner with the Path2College 529 Plan to provide a head start on saving for college or career training,” said Atrium Health Navicent President Delvecchio Finley. “Children will shape the future of our community, and it’s important that we do all we can to support them, encourage their future education and expand opportunities for them as they grow and mature into the leaders of tomorrow.”
“We are excited to help Oaklynn jump-start her college savings with this contribution to her Path2College 529 Plan,” said Georgia Student Finance Commission President Lynne Riley. “These savings may be used for qualified higher education expenses such as tuition, room and board, books, supplies and more.”
Today also marked the official kick-off of the 2024 Path2College Newborn Sweepstakes where one baby born in Georgia this year will be awarded a $5,529 college savings contribution.
