"The residents of Macon-Bibb County and surrounding counties are fortunate to have a Level I trauma center at Atrium Health Navicent. Across the nation, Level I trauma centers are typically located in metropolitan areas. The level of care provided at Atrium Health Navicent is very rare in smaller communities like Macon. A Level I trauma center provides the most sophisticated level of care for the trauma patient. The standard of care at this Level I center includes in-house trauma teams that stand ready to provide lifesaving care to patients within minutes of arrival."

The Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Clinical Team is comprised of surgeons and advanced practitioners with an emphasis on emergent general surgery, trauma, and critical care. This team focuses on the entire continuum of care which includes the emergency department, operating room, intensive care unit, surgical floor and outpatient clinics.
