Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program is a n accredited program through ACGME. The clinical experience for the fellow is board based with core rotations in surgical trauma/neuro (5 months), cardiovascular (2 months), pediatric (1 month), medical surgical ICU (1 month), and Nephrology/Atrium Health Navicent Infectious Disease (1 month). The remaining 2 months of the year are devoted to elective rotations.

The fellows may choose their electives from the following rotations: Radiology, Atrium Health Navicent Infectious Disease, Interventional Radiology, Endovascular Surgery, Advanced Cardiology and Geriatric/Palliative Care. A teaching lecture consisting of multiple lectures covering the pathophysiology of critical care is provided as well as simulation lab opportunities. The Adult Multiprofessional Critical Care Board Review Course (Society of Critical Care Medicine) is used as the core curriculum. This intensive course provides a comprehensive review of the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of the critically ill patients and focuses on preparing fellows for their critical care certification.
