Navicent Health Raises Awareness of Esophageal Cancers Causes and Preventative Treatments

While a cancer diagnosis is a life-changing event, there are many steps people can take to prevent certain forms of cancer, including esophageal cancer. This April, in recognition of Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month, Atrium Health Navicent will raise awareness of esophageal cancer and encourages healthy lifestyle habits that may prevent this condition.

Carol Babcock Receives the Healthcare Ethics Consortiums Hero in Healthcare Ethics Award

Carol Babcock, MFT, Director of Palliative Care and Healthy Communities, Atrium Health Navicent is this year's recipient of the Healthcare Ethics Consortium's 2019 Hero in Healthcare Ethics Award. Babcock is the founding manager of the Center for Palliative Care at Atrium Health Navicent, chair of the hospital's ethics committee, and the creator of Atrium Health Navicent's innovative counselor-based palliative care program.

Community Partners Host Seventh Annual Child Abuse Prevention Symposium

Each April - in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month - Crescent House, Atrium Health Navicent encourages discussion of this important issue through an annual Child Abuse Prevention Symposium. The seventh annual Child Abuse Prevention Symposium, scheduled Wednesday, April 10 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., will take place at The Medical Center, Navicent Health's Peyton Anderson Health Education Center, located at 877 Hemlock Street in Macon.

Inaugural "Walk With A Doc" to be held April 6 Atrium Health Navicent invites members of the community to its inaugural "Walk With A Doc" event in an effort to encourage greater health and wellness. "Walk With A Doc" will be held the first Saturday of each month, beginning April 6, in Macon's beautiful Central City Park (150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive, Macon). Registration will begin each Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Navicent Health Responds to Cyber Attack

Atrium Health Navicent announced today that it is notifying patients potentially impacted by a data security incident. Atrium Health Navicent was the victim of a cyber attack, in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed employee and hosted email accounts.
