September is Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital honors the young patients who live with sickle cell disease, and their families, this September during National Sickle Cell Awareness Month by raising awareness about the genetic condition. Georgia ranks third in the nation with more than 10,000 individuals living with sickle cell disease, according to a 2021 Georgia State Senate Study Committee on Sickle Cell Anemia report.

Atrium Health Navicent now offers medical, radiation and surgical oncology treatments for central Georgia patients Atrium Health Peyton Anderson Cancer Center announced Wednesday the addition of medical oncology services, creating a full continuum of care available for central Georgia patients. Medical oncology physicians help patients manage drug, chemotherapy and surgical treatment plans for cancer.
Atrium Health Navicent and AmeriCorps Partner to Improve Community Health

Atrium Health Navicent has partnered with One World Link and AmeriCorps Georgia to provide health outreach services in central Georgia while also providing valuable training for individuals interested in social work and health careers. Eligible Atrium Health Navicent Public Safety Teammates to Receive Salary Supplement

Supplement is funded by American Rescue Plan Act During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic first responders and public safety officers worked tirelessly to maintain order and safety in our community. To show appreciation, Atrium Health Navicent applied for the Public Safety Officials and First Responders Supplement Grant, which is funded from the American Rescue Plan Act, to benefit nearly 130 eligible current and former full-time public safety teammates. “Public safety teammates have joined health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and have faithfully served our community while facing unprecedented challenges,” said Atrium Health Navicent President of Hospitals and Clinics Luis Fonseca. “Using these grant funds, we’re proud to pass along a token of our thanks during Atrium Health Navicent’s Teammate Appreciation Week.” Atrium Health Navicent teammates, including hospital police officers, communications officers and emergency medical services personnel, who were employed in August 2021 and who hold specific certifications outlined by the state are eligible for the supplement.

Students, faculty and staff can participate in a virtual visit with a health care provider without leaving campus Atrium Health Navicent and Peach County Schools celebrated a new partnership to provide Peach County students, teachers and school staff with school-based virtual health care services during a Tuesday ceremony. The Atrium Health Navicent School-Based Virtual Care program offers Peach County Schools’ 3,600 students and 500 teachers and school staff members access to virtual visits with a health provider without leaving their school campus, acting as an extension of services provided by established school nurses and offering near-immediate access to more advanced care. “Atrium Health Navicent is committed to expanding access to high quality health care, reducing disparities and bridging barriers, to improve the health and wellness of the communities we serve,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “Helping students remain healthy and in the classroom, and providing quick treatment for their teachers and other school staff, has the potential to make a far-reaching impact on the future health of our community as these children grow into healthier adults.
