The American Red Cross is reporting a dangerously low blood supply and has issued a call for blood donation.A blood drive is being held at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment at RedCrossBlood.org and use the sponsor code “NAVH.” Free parking is available for donors in the green parking deck accessed via Hemlock Street.

Hospital at Home allows pediatric COVID-19 and diabetes patients to receive remote monitoring For the last year, patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have been able to receive hospital-level treatment in the comfort of their own homes thanks to Atrium Health Navicent’s innovative virtual Hospital at Home COVID Monitoring Program. The program, which is designed to protect the patient’s health, the health of others, and prevent further spread of the virus, has now expanded to include pediatric patients and pediatric diabetes patients, providing equal access to care to all children.

Nearly 15,000 ounces of milk have been donated by local mothers Since opening on Feb. 11, 2021, the milk depot at Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital has collected 14,891 ounces of local donor breast milk, enough to provide nutrition for as many as 59,564 premature babies in need. One ounce of breast milk can provide nutrition for as many as four premature babies.

HPV is a common virus that can cause six types of cancer, and almost 35,000 men and women are diagnosed with HPV cancers in the United States every year.

Jennifer Boland, Atrium Health Navicent’s regional perinatal outreach coordinator, was presented the Spirit of Excellence Maternal Outreach Educator Award for her work leading the implementation of simulation training and debriefing for Georgia hospitals to improve maternal and newborn outcomes in partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health.

This January, during Glaucoma Awareness Month, physicians at Atrium Health Navicent Ophthalmology Macon urge the community to educate themselves about resources available to maintain eye health and to treat glaucoma.
