Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center to Host Blood Drive

Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center will host a community blood drive in partnership with The American Red Cross on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“Every day patients experiencing traumatic injuries or undergoing surgery need blood to survive,” said Dr. Dennis W. Ashley, medical director of Trauma Services at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center. “Blood is also vital to patients battling chronic conditions who depend on donated blood as part of their treatment. Blood donation only takes a few minutes, but it’s a lifesaving gift.”

Donors are asked to schedule an appointment at RedCrossBlood.org and use the sponsor code NAVH.

Free parking is available for donors in the green parking deck accessed via Hemlock Street. Donors must enter the hospital via the main entrance located at 777 Hemlock St. The blood drive will be located in the West Tower lobby.

Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
