Atrium Health Navicent Executive Named to National List of 50 Community Hospital CFOs to Know in 2022
Judy Ware, Atrium Health Navicent’s chief financial officer for Rural Health, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “50 Community Hospital CFOs to Know” in 2022. The national list features community hospital chief financial officers who have demonstrated a legacy of strong leadership and are guiding their organizations through a new transformation in health care delivery, especially in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Atrium Health Navicent is committed to innovation and strategies that improve access to health care, making it easier to receive high quality care close to home. Congratulations to Judy for this recognition of her work that benefits patients in the many rural communities we serve,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley.
Ware joined Atrium Navicent Health in 2001 and has more than 29 years of health care experience. As chief financial officer for Rural Health, she works with the health system’s board of directors and executive leadership to set strategic and financial plans for growth, development and sustainability in providing health care to rural communities.
In her work, she’s completed operational and financial restructuring related to integrating Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin into the Atrium Health System. In addition to leading the financial operations and in the transition, she served as interim CEO for Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin.
Ware has been instrumental in helping enhance access to rural health care through the Georgia Heart Hospital Program, a rural hospital tax credit program that allows Georgia taxpayers to receive a state income tax credit for 100 percent of the amount they contribute to qualified rural hospitals. Program contributions help improve health care provided in Georgia’s rural communities.
Prior to joining Atrium Health Navicent, Ware worked as a senior associate for Draffin and Tucker and as a supervisor for McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks & Co., accounting firms responsible for auditing hospitals and nursing homes. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Georgia Southern University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
“Being raised in a rural town contributed to my awareness of the importance of accessible, affordable health care for the citizens in those communities,” Ware said. “Throughout my career, I have incorporated my passion for rural health care into my leadership goals and advocated for the existence, improvement, and sustainability of quality health care in central and south Georgia hospitals.”
