Take an Early Morning Walk with a Doc in Milledgeville this Month
You know the saying, the early bird gets the worm. Well, in Georgia, the early bird also beats the heat! To help you stay cool this summer, Baldwin County’s Walk with a Doc wellness group will now meet at a fresh day and time. Join them at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18.
The free walk is open to the community and now meets at 6:30 a.m. every third Monday at the Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin walking track, located at 821 N. Cobb St. in Milledgeville. Other upcoming Walk with a Doc dates are Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15. Light refreshments will be served. In the event of rain, the walk will be canceled.
Part of a worldwide program, Walk with a Doc is a free, recurring, doctor-led walking group. Atrium Health Navicent partnered to bring Walk with a Doc to Baldwin County in 2023. The sessions allow participants to safely walk and learn about current health topics. Walks begin with a brief discussion led by a physician and then participants enjoy a healthy walk and conversation.
“It can be tough to stay motivated for your health and wellness goals during the summer,” said Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin Chief Operating Officer Thomas Goss. “Between the heat and humidity, exercising outside in the afternoon can be dangerous. Getting outside earlier is key to staying safe in this hot weather. Join us early birds for a walk, and remember that any time you’re outside being active, take a water bottle with you to stay hydrated.”
Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center, in collaboration with community partners, started the Walk with a Doc program in Macon in 2019. The Macon chapter meets on the first Saturday of every month at Amerson River Park.
