Alfred “AJ” Jefferson

Alfred “AJ” Jefferson, Jr. is the Interim Area Vice President HR Business Partner, for the Georgia service area in as of January 2026 Prior to that, he supported the Southeast Wisconsin area which supports 6 area hospital, 110 ambulatory sites in the Greater Milwaukee and surrounding areas.

As an HRBP, AJ serves as the strategic partner to the Greater Milwaukee Area President and is accountable for the culture and people strategies as well as the delivery initiatives that inform operational success. AJ believes that our role in HR is to support the business function by cultivating a healthy culture while helping our teams focus on how to deliver the best care to our patients. He is a relationship builder naturally and enjoys working with the executive teams in Greater Milwaukee to drive people strategies while building the workforce of the future.

AJ brings more than 15 years of experience in health care human resources, and in healthcare for 21 years. He has been with Aurora for the last 9 months but prior to, he worked at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana where he has spent the last seven years leading the HR Business Partner team, and other HR leadership roles during his tenure. AJ has a passion for mentorship, DEI, and community engagement and has leveraged his HR roles to support those efforts. Prior to joining Ochsner Health, AJ spent 13 years working at Froedtert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a variety of roles including patient transport, ED tech, recruiter and HR leader.

AJ received his associates degree in applied science: medical assisting, and bachelor's degree in business administration from Bryant and Stratton College and earned his Master's degree in business administration/healthcare administration from Concordia University.

As a Milwaukee native, he loves his hometown. He is a diehard Bucks and Packers fan. He is a proud husband and father to two daughters. He and his wife are fostering a 1-year-old son, who they look forward to adopting in the upcoming year.
