Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PICU/PIMCU) at Atrium Health Navicent Children's Hospital is one of only five PICUs in the state of Georgia and serves primarily the central and southern regions of the state. With a Level 1 Trauma center and a 24/7 Pediatric Transport Team, the Pediatric Critical Care Unit provides state-of-the-art care for newborns, infants, children and adolescent patients who are critically ill or injured. Our physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists and allied medical care professionals have the necessary knowledge, skill set and judgment to quickly assess and treat your child so they can achieve the best outcomes possible from critical illness or injury. Equipped with advanced technology, our multidisciplinary team improves survival, enhances recovery, minimizes disability and relieves pain and suffering in a caring and respectful manner.

Our education program includes an exciting, ACGME-accredited residency program that includes training of pediatric residents, surgery critical care fellows, and critical care nurse practitioners. Trainees in these programs are exposed to traditional bedside and didactic teaching, procedural skills using ultrasound, simulation programs, and web-based learning modules.
