Lawrence X. Webb is a board certified is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopaedic trauma surgery and fracture care. He completed his undergraduate degree from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Dr. Webb earned his medical degree at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He completed an orthopaedic residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and his fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington.
Dr. Webb established a graduate post residency Orthopaedic Fellowship training program in 2000 at Wake Forest University Medical Center. This program was established for sub specialized training in Orthopaedic Trauma. This program is an Orthopaedic Trauma Association (the national organization of the subspecialty) approved program whose orthopaedic surgeon selectees enroll in the program (whose duration is one year) by way of a nationally administered match program. When Dr. Webb joined MCCG in 2009, he brought his fellowship program with him. The establishment of this program has been a vital part of the trauma service at MCCG and has tremendously aided the successful continuance of the service, despite significant transitions, notably the loss of two of the three orthopaedic trauma surgeons- Dr. Turen due to his untimely departure from the institution and Dr. Floyd who transitioned his practice to another city in Georgia. (It should be noted that a state of the same population, North Carolina or Tennessee, each have three such programs and graduate four orthopaedic trauma fellows annually. This testifies to the fact that there is a need in the state of Georgia for this program and the demographic imperative that MCCG has assumed to benefit its patient base).
