Dr. Jarrod E. Dumpe
Jarrod E. Dumpe is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons specializing in orthopedic trauma surgery. Dr. Dumpe is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Mercer University. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and also completed his internship at the same institution. He then transitioned to Cleveland, Ohio where he trained at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in orthopaedic surgery. He completed his trauma fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Prior to joining Navicent Health, Dr. Dumpe was stationed at Joint Base San Antonio, the Department of Defense's only Level I Trauma center, and served as the Medical Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC). He served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and was faculty at San Antonio Military Medical Center's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery combined Army/Air Force residency program that trains a contingent of 40 residents. He also held a faculty appointment in the US Army-Baylor University Doctor of Clinical Science Orthopaedic Physician Assistant Program. He was Service Chief of the General Orthopaedic service and was a contributing faculty member on the trauma service helping to care for Wounded Warriors and returning service members from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan where he provided trauma care to American military members, NATO forces, and local Afghani forces and police who often sustained multiple limb and pelvic injuries.
Dr. Dumpe continues to be involved with education as faculty member to our trauma fellow and has multiple ongoing scholarly activities. He is member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and serves on the Classification and Outcomes Committee. He is also serving as member of the OTA Opioid Task Force. He continues to be an active member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
His research and work interests include limb deformity correction, malunion and nonunion correction, posttraumatic reconstruction, the opioid epidemic, invasive infections in the poly-traumatized patient, and fracture healing in the traumatized patient.
