The Medical Center of Peach County, Navicent Health Recognized for Commitment to Rural Healthcare

MACON, GA (Tuesday, January 5, 2016) - The Medical Center of Peach County, Atrium Health Navicent (MCPC) has been recognized by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for its continuing commitment to provide patients in rural Georgia communities access to excellent healthcare services.

“With more than two million Georgians living in underserved areas of our state, The Medical Center of Peach County's passion and dedication to meet the needs of such citizens serves as a shining example to those in the healthcare community,” said Clyde L. Reese III, Commissioner of Georgia Department of Community Health.

MCPC is recognized for its commitment to serving the people of rural Georgia, its dedication to the delivery of quality patient-centered care and its contributions to community health. The hospital is one of 20 rural Georgia hospitals recognized by NOSORH for “Excellence in Outcomes.” The recognition was based on patient safety indicators, readmission rates and mortality rates. Putnam General Hospital, a Atrium Health Navicent partner, was also included in the listing of top 20 hospitals.

“The Medical Center of Peach County and Atrium Health Navicent are champions of rural health. We firmly believe that all Georgians deserve timely access to quality care, close to home. The Medical Center of Peach County is pleased to provide the highest caliber of care to patients in Peach, Crawford and surrounding counties,” said Darren Pearce, CEO of MCPC.

“At The Medical Center of Peach County, we are committed to ensuring that each patient receives effective, personalized care. Our goal is to ensure that each patient is placed on the road to wellness in hopes of avoiding future illness and readmission,” said Dr. Crystal Brown, Medical Director of MCPC.

MCPC, located at 1960 Hwy 247 Connector in Byron, provides the residents of Peach and surrounding counties access to a new, modern, 25-bed hospital offering emergency care, an operating room suite, numerous diagnostic and outpatient services and all-private rooms. The hospital was constructed and opened in 2013, after Peach Regional Medical Center partnered with Atrium Health Navicent.
