Funds will be used to improve musical playground and address young patients’ needs Atrium Health Navicent and Panda Express announced today that the restaurant group has committed to raise $441,992 to benefit Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital by Dec. 31, 2030. Funds will be used to improve the existing musical playground outside the children’s hospital, and to address young patients’ needs.

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when an external force or impact injures the brain and causes an alteration in brain function.

The region’s only dedicated pediatric hospital celebrates four years of caring for children in central and south Georgia In the four years since Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital opened its doors on Feb. 25, 2019, central and south Georgia’s only dedicated pediatric hospital has continued to drive for excellence in enhancing the lives of children through high-quality patient care and education. “Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital is proud to be central and south Georgia’s dedicated pediatric hospital and to provide the very best care to young patients,” said Atrium Health Navient President Delvecchio Finley. “Each day our teammates innovate to better the now and create the future for our children and we thank the community for its philanthropy and support of our mission to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing for all.” In 2022, the children’s hospital saw: • A 17 percent increase in pediatric out-patient visits • A 28 percent increase in Pediatric Emergency Department visits • A 22 percent increase in pediatric floor admissions • A 13.5 percent increase in surgical procedures • A 12 percent increase in Pediatric intensive Care Unit admissions Due to a growing demand for additional service options, by 2018 the hospital had outgrown its facility, constructed in 1962 and designed for adult health care. Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital was constructed adjacent to the existing facility, expanding the hospital’s size by 100,000 square feet, providing a total of 160,000 square feet dedicated to meeting the needs of ill and injured children.

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is February 27 - March 5, 2023 In recognition of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, observed Feb. 27 through March 5, physicians at Atrium Health Navicent urge individuals to help recognize the signs and symptoms of eating disorders in children. Eating disorders are serious and sometimes fatal illnesses that cause severe disturbances to a person’s eating behaviors.
