Conditions Treated

In some cases, your obstetrician will recommend high-risk pregnancy care when you have known risk factors, such as:

• Maternal age of 35 years old or older at the time of delivery
• Carrying a baby with a congenital condition
• Family history or previous child with congenital or genetic conditions
• History of pregnancy-related complications, such as preeclampsia or gestational diabetes
• History of poor pregnancy outcomes, including stillbirth and preterm delivery
• Preexisting serious medical condition, like heart disease or high blood pressure

In addition to factors that may put a pregnancy at higher risk, we treat conditions and complications that can occur during pregnancy, including:

• Preeclampsia
• Preterm labor
• Placenta previa
• Placental abruption
• Gestational diabetes
• Abnormal fetal growth
• Premature rupture of membranes (“water” breaks before 37 weeks)

• Higher order multiple gestation (multiple pregnancies with 3 or more fetuses)
