Youth Visitation Procedures Modified for 2013 Flu Season

With influenza circulating in the community and primarily affecting young people, along with the onset of seasonal flu, Atrium Health Navicent Peach has joined other area hospitals to implement a new youth visitation policy for the protection of patients and visitors to their facilities.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), children between the ages of newborn and 12 months are more likely to acquire and spread the flu and are more likely to be hospitalized. Therefore, effective immediately, children must be 12 years old or older to visit the Medical Center of Peach County, The Medical Center of Central Georgia and Central Georgia Rehabilitation Hospital.

In addition, we ask that any individual with flu-like symptoms or who has recently had the flu to be respectful of others, stay away from hospitals and other public places (school, work, theaters, etc.) and to stay at home.

The youth visitation policy will remain in effect throughout the current flu season, or until further notice.

Hospital officials express their appreciation to the community for their understanding and cooperation with these efforts to minimize exposure during the active flu season.
