Amanda Hudson Lucas is a Clinical Nurse Specialist who received both her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing from Georgia College and State University. Experience in both intensive care nursing and hospital education led to her assistance in the development of the palliative care inpatient program beginning in 2004. During her time as a member of the palliative consultation service, Amanda has developed policy, led continuing education courses for nurses and physicians, spoke on palliative topics at the local, state, national and international levels, and become, one of the few Advanced Practice Hospice and Palliative Nurses within the state. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice adding the primary care nurse practitioner in hopes of expanding primary palliative care earlier in the course of serious illness.
