Navicent Health Rolls Out Mobile MRI Coach

Coach will Provide Diagnostic Testing Close to Home for Patients

MACON, GA (Thursday, June 16, 2016) - Navicent Health is pleased to introduce the newest tool in its diagnostics arsenal - a new mobile MRI coach equipped with GE's 1.5 T MRI System. The new coach will allow Atrium Health Navicent to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic testing in rural areas, bringing the testing to the patient rather than having the patient travel for the test.

“At Atrium Health Navicent, our mantra is ‘Everything about us is all about you,' the patient. We truly believe that and seek to live up to that high standard. It is for that reason that we have chosen to utilize this mobile MRI coach. By using this mobile diagnostic technology, we can reach patients in rural areas who will be able to access care at their local hospital without having to incur travel expenses and time away from work, school and family,” said Dr. Ninfa M. Saunders, President and CEO of Atrium Health Navicent.

Initially, Atrium Health Navicent plans to deploy the mobile coach to critical access hospitals including Medical Center of Peach County, Atrium Health Navicent and Putnam General Hospital, Atrium Health Navicent Partner. The health system plans to partner with other healthcare providers to add additional locations in the future.

“The mobile MRI coach allows us to take MRI technology to smaller healthcare locations that cannot justify the cost of having fixed site MRI capabilities. Mobile units allow small, rural and critical access locations to access advanced imaging technology in order to better serve their patients,” said Michael Hajworonsky, Assistant Vice President of Clinical Support Services for Atrium Health Navicent.

The coach is beautifully appointed with hardwood floors, wall murals and a simulated skylight in order to help patients feel at ease.

MRI, also known as Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is a diagnostic test that uses a magnetic field and radio wave energy pulses to image organs and structures within the human body. The test can be used for a multitude of reasons, including the imaging of tumors, bleeds, injuries, blood vessel abnormalities and infections.
