Navicent Health Physician Group Announces New Putnam Practices

Ribbon Cutting for the Practices of Hennecken, Holcomb, Long and Turker Planned for December 8

MACON, GA (Thursday, December 3, 2015) - Navicent Health Physician Group (NHPG) is pleased to announce the addition of three new physician practices in Putnam County, and invites the community to join in a ribbon cutting celebration.

The ribbon cutting celebration for the practices of Drs. Hennecken, Holcomb, Long and Turker will take place on Tuesday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. at 101 Lake Oconee Parkway, Suite A in Eatonton, Ga.

The addition of these new practices will provide Putnam County and the surrounding areas with cardiology, gynecology and general surgery services. Physicians employed at the new practices include:

  • Dr. John Hennecken, who trained at Yale University and is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Lipidology. Dr. Hennecken focuses on general and preventative cardiology.
  • Dr. Shanna Holcomb, a graduate of the Mercer University School of Medicine, who is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has practiced in the Milledgeville area since 2010 and is a North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner.
  • Dr. Eric Long, a board-certified General Surgeon who joined Surgical Institute, Atrium Health Navicent in 2014 after completing his General Surgery Residency and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the Mercer University School of Medicine.
  • Dr. Isik Turker, who is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine. She has practiced noninvasive cardiology in the Athens area since 2013.

Atrium Health Navicent and Putnam General Hospital announced their intent to enter a strategic partnership in July 2014 with the goal of creating a medical neighborhood for Putnam County and the surrounding region, allowing both partners to recruit physicians and expand healthcare services in the area to cover the continuum of care.
