Learn How to Save Lives in “Stop the Bleed” Free Training Offered by Atrium Health Navicent and Other Partners

Virtual “Stop the Bleed” training to be held June 28

MACON, Ga., June 24, 2021 - The community is invited to participate in a free virtual “Stop the Bleed” training session presented by Atrium Health Navicent, the Region 5 Regional Trauma Advisory Committee and Air Evac Lifeteam.

The class will meet virtually using the Zoom meeting platform on Monday, June 28 at 10 a.m.

“Stop the Bleed” is a national campaign that seeks to save lives by educating and equipping bystanders to help in a bleeding emergency until emergency responders arrive. Uncontrolled bleeding injuries can result from natural or manmade disasters and accidents.

“More than half of all trauma deaths occur in the first few minutes after injury. If bleeding is severe, it can kill within minutes, many times before trained responders can arrive,” said Dr. Dennis Ashley, Director of Trauma for The Medical Center, Navicent Health. “The ‘Stop the Bleed’ program educates and empowers members of the public to help save lives by controlling bleeding in emergency situations.”

To sign up, visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/R5stopthebleed. Further instructions will be sent by email prior to the class start date. Anyone wishing to obtain a “Stop the Bleed” certification, or pursue becoming an instructor, must also complete an in-person or virtual skills check-off.
