Join Atrium Health Navicent in Thanking Nurses during National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is held annually from May 6 through May 12

The community is invited to join Atrium Health Navicent in recognizing National Nurses Week by thanking the health system’s more than 2,100 nurses for their dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic and the exceptional patient care they provide daily.

In 2020, the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program recognized The Medical Center, Navicent Health with its fourth Magnet designation, placing the facility in an elite group. Only 93 of the 552 Magnet designated hospitals worldwide have received four designations.

Nursing comprises the nation’s largest healthcare profession. Nurses must meet the varied healthcare needs of patients in a range of settings, and professional nursing is an indispensable component of safe, quality care for patients.

“This year is an extra special celebration for nursing as we are in a global pandemic and the whole world has seen and continues to see the work of nurses in all areas,” said Tracey Blalock, RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Executive for Atrium Health Navicent. “Nursing professionals have contributed to the overall health and well-being during this pandemic whether they served on the front lines or in another capacity. The tireless commitment that they show to make sure that every patient is cared for equally proves that they are heroes in their own sense and certainly worthy of being celebrated!”

National Nurses Week is held annually, beginning on May 6 (RN Recognition Day) and ending on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is recognized as the founder of the modern nursing profession.
