Atrium Health Navicent Surpasses $435 Million in Capital Investments, Accelerating Toward $1 Billion Commitment

Since joining Atrium Health in 2019, Atrium Health Navicent has made bold strides in transforming health care across central Georgia allocating $435 million in capital investments.

This investment delivers on our commitment to modernize care, expand access and strengthen infrastructure – especially in rural communities. These strategic investments reflect a deep commitment to the region and include:

  • $98 million for Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital expansion that doubled the size of the hospital, increasing access to advanced pediatric care. Watch the incredible story of how pediatric care saved the life of an 8-year-old boy from central Georgia.
  • $95 million to modernize its technology systems, including the implementation of Epic EMR, which gives patients secure access to their health records through MyChart and enables providers to deliver more coordinated, efficient, and personalized care across all locations.
  • $183 million in advanced imaging and diagnostic equipment, a full-service infusion pharmacy, new trauma bay to enhance our Level 1 Trauma capacity, upgrades including smart beds, bariatric chairs, surgical robotics, and infrastructure in addition to aesthetic enhancements to elevate patient care and healing environments across all facilities.
  • $35 million to expand access to care across central Georgia through new medical clinics in Houston County, an expanded rural health clinic in Peach County, the opening of an OB/GYN practice in Baldwin County, and the planned relocation and modernization of the historic WT Anderson Clinic.
  • $12 million is being invested to expand Women’s Health Services such as OB/GYN, maternal fetal medicine and urogynecology services creating a regional perinatal care center for high-risk pregnancies in central Georgia to improve access and outcomes.
  • $8 million to create a dedicated Heart Intensive Care Unit (ICU), elevating cardiac care and alleviating emergency department volume.
  • $4 million was invested to expand emergency medical services in rural areas, establishing 911 coverage in Wilkinson and Baldwin counties, deploying new ambulances in Jones and Bibb counties, and upgrading cardiac monitors across Atrium Health Navicent’s ambulance fleet.

Atrium Health Navicent remains deeply committed to fulfilling the $1 billion investment pledge made as part of our strategic combination. While the COVID-19 pandemic required a temporary shift in priorities to meet the urgent needs of our patients, teammates and communities, we continue to make meaningful progress and are actively planning future investments.

“Central Georgia deserves leading-edge care, and we’re proud to be delivering on that promise with every investment we make,” said Rashard Johnson, President of Atrium Health Navicent. “We’re strengthening rural access, modernizing technology, expanding services and advancing health and wellness across the region.”

The $1 billion commitment is a long-term promise to the central Georgia community. Every dollar invested reflects our dedication to building a healthier future for all.
