Atrium Health Navicent Recognizes Nurses with 6th Annual Nursing Excellence Awards
In recognition of the contribution of nurses to our community’s health and wellness, Atrium Health Navicent has recognized 12 nurses with the 6th annual Friends of Nursing Excellence Awards. Awards were not presented in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nurses were recognized in the following categories:

· Excellence in Advanced Practice – Emily Edwards RN
· Excellence in General Medicine/ Surgical Unit – Jennifer Lowe RN
· Excellence in Post-Acute Care – Darleen Hayter RN
· Excellence in Ambulatory and Community Care – Tabitha Linder RN
· Excellence in Emergency and Critical Care – Gilda Pineda RN
· Excellence in Pediatric Care – Aubri Rush RN
· Excellence in Clinical Support Services – Sonya “Dee” Floyd RN
· Excellence in Specialty Services – Maria Colanag-Matos RN
· Rising Star Award – Amie Markel LPN
· Barb Stickel Community Award – Ishmadlina Brew RN
· Nightingale Award of Excellence – Katrina Gordon RN
“The last year with the global pandemic has been challenging for nurses everywhere and in 2020 many of Atrium Health Navicent’s nurses went above and beyond to rise and meet the challenges put before them. That’s why we felt it was so important to once again recognize our dedicated staff through the Friends of Nursing Excellence Awards,” said Tracey Blalock, RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Executive for Navicent Health. The pandemic has brought a special public awareness of the importance of nursing and I couldn’t be more proud of the work our nurses do to help patients daily. I’m especially proud of The Medical Center, Navicent Health’s nursing staff who received a huge recognition in 2020 by receiving the highest recognition of nursing excellence an organization can receive.”
In 2020, the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program recognized The Medical Center, Navicent Health with its fourth Magnet designation, placing the facility in an elite group. Only 93 of the 552 Magnet designated hospitals worldwide have received four designations.
