Atrium Health Navicent Provides COVID-19 Vaccinations for Teachers, School Staff
Atrium Health Navicent, in partnership with the Bibb County School District, held a special event Saturday to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to teachers and school staff. Nearly 700 Bibb County Schools employees registered to receive vaccines during the event at Atrium Health’s two Macon vaccination sites – the Family Health Center on Eisenhower Parkway and The Wellness Center on Northside Drive.
“Teachers serve an important role in our community, nurturing the growth of our children, our future,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “Partnerships like this one with Bibb County Schools, and our other community partnerships to vaccinate seniors, are examples of how our health system is engaging with the communities we serve.”
Educators and school staff, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, and parents of children with complex medical conditions became eligible March 8 to receive a COVID-19 vaccine under Georgia’s priority distribution plan.
"Case numbers for COVID-19 are declining, but we cannot let our guard down. We must continue to socially distance, wear face masks and wash our hands. We are encouraging all employees to be vaccinated because we know how important it is to slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community and helping schools remain open,” said Bibb County School District Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones. “We’re very thankful to Atrium Health Navicent for hosting this event on a Saturday to ensure our employees have an opportunity to be vaccinated quickly and easily. Vaccinations will provide another layer of safety for our students and staff, and provide our employees with peace of mind as they work in their classrooms with students. Thank you, Atrium Health Navicent."
