Atrium Health Navicent Offers High School Students Opportunity to Learn About Health Careers
Atrium Health Navicent is accepting applications for a program launched in 2024 that offers area high school sophomores and juniors the opportunity to shadow health care workers and receive hands-on training for health care careers.
The four-week Realizing and Encouraging Adolescents to pursue Careers in Healthcare (REACH) program includes weekly professional engagement and development activities, such as medical skills simulation, educational field trips, mentoring support from leaders and education about career opportunities at Atrium Health Navient.
Students will also shadow a professional in interest areas such as nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, radiology, health care administration, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, laboratory, medical practice management and general physician.
“Spurring the interest of the next generation of health care workers, providing them with opportunities to explore available careers and encouraging them on their educational journey is all part of creating a pipeline of skilled health care professionals to fill needs here in central Georgia,” said Akilah Griffin, Advocate Health’s talent acquisition lead for Georgia who supports Atrium Health Navicent. “We encourage local high school students to apply and learn more about various health care careers and get incredible access to mentors and professionals who can help them on their career journey.”
The REACH program is scheduled to start June 23 and last through July 18. Applications will be accepted through March 31. The student application process includes an essay and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school administrator.
