Atrium Health Navicent, Fort Valley State University Partner to Offer On-campus Student Health Services

Campus health clinic to open this fall

Atrium Health Navicent and Fort Valley State University (FVSU) have partnered to offer on-campus health services for students, faculty and staff beginning fall 2023.

The partnership has evolved from a relationship between leaders at Atrium Health Navicent and FVSU, which led to a discussion about ways to enhance students’ health and well-being through services offered on campus.

“This partnership will increase access to quality health care close to home for students, faculty and staff at Fort Valley State University,” said Atrium Health Navicent President Delvecchio Finley. “Eliminating barriers individuals may face in seeking health care, and offering a convenient clinic near classrooms will make it easier for students, faculty and staff to live healthier lives. Thanks to Fort Valley State University for its partnership in improving the health of our community.”

At the Atrium Health Navicent Campus Health Clinic in the Florence J. Hunt Wellness Center, students will have access toan in-person primary care provider or they can choose to use telehealth options. For those who already have a primary care provider, urgent care services are available.

The clinic will be open Monday through Friday and will provide basic services such as wellness exams and physicals and willprovide drug screenings, vaccinations and treatment for common illnesses such as the flu, strep throat and COVID-19. Female students will be able to book their annual gynecological exams as well as pap tests. For students with chronic health conditions, providers at the clinic will provide ongoing care management, monitoring and on-site laboratory services.

This includes another HBCU, Johnson C. Smith University, in North Carolina.

On-campus health services provided by Atrium Health Navicent are also debuting at Central Georgia Technical College this fall. The partnership between the health system and Central Georgia Technical College is the first of its kind in the state.
