Atrium Health Navicent, Clayton State University Partner to Offer On-campus Student Health Services

Atrium Health Navicent and Clayton State University have partnered to offer on-campus health services for students, faculty and staff. The partnership was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 29.

The university’s students, faculty and staff can now receive medical services in Laker Village at 5809 N. Lake Drive, Building 1000 in Morrow. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

“This partnership will increase access to quality health care and eliminate barriers to help keep students healthy, able to attend class and prepare for future success,” said Atrium Health Georgia Market President Delvecchio Finley. “Thanks to Clayton State University for partnering with Atrium Health Navicent to offer these services to students, faculty and staff. Because I was raised near Clayton State’s campus and still have family residing in the area, I know first-hand the incredible impact this partnership will offer in providing the surrounding community with hope for a healthier tomorrow.”

Clayton State University’s students, faculty and staff now have access to an in-person primary care provider, or they can choose to use telehealth options. For those who already have a primary care provider, urgent care services are available.The clinic provides basic services such as wellness exams, physicals, drug screenings, vaccinations and treatment for common illnesses such as the flu, strep throat and COVID-19. Gynecological exams, including pap tests, as well as comprehensive behavioral health services, are also available. For students with chronic health conditions, providers at the clinic will provide ongoing care management, monitoring and on-site laboratory services.

Clayton State University President Dr. Georj Lewis expressed his enthusiasm about the positive influence this partnership will have on enhancing the campus experience for students.

“I am proud of the efforts made by our entire campus community,” Lewis said. “I am excited about our current achievements and look forward to addressing future opportunities.”

Since opening its doors Aug. 1, the clinic has already completed more than 175 patient visits providing services ranging from sick visits, sports physicals and lab visits to mental health.

“We are excited to launch our partnership with Atrium Health Navicent and provide a unique model of health and wellness services to students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Allen Ward, Clayton State’s associate vice president for Student Affairs.

“Atrium Health will offer important care for our students, including acute and primary care, counseling, and women's health care, and help us with our strategic goals to promote wellness and a healthy campus environment.”

On-campus health services provided by Atrium Health Navicent are also offered at Fort Valley State University and Central Georgia Technical College.
