Atrium Health Navicent Breast Care Center Designated as Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence

The National Consortium of Breast Centers’ National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) has designated Atrium Health Navicent Breast Care Center as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence.

Located at Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center and Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center in Macon, Atrium Health Navicent Breast Care Center provides services for both the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Atrium Health Navicent Breast Care Center is one of only 33 Certified Quality Breast Centers of Excellence in the U.S. Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center’s breast center in Rome also has achieved this designation.

Centers designated as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence are recognized for meeting 90 percent of performance measures in areas including imaging, pathology, surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology and genetics. The NQMBC is the only breast care-specific quality management program of its type, offering performance monitoring of service delivery, professional performance and clinical outcomes across a patient's medical journey.

“The goal of our oncology programs is to meet the highest standards of quality every day. This accreditation acknowledges our dedication to excellence in breast health at a level achieved by only 32 other breast health centers in the nation,” said Dr. Paul Dale, chief of surgical oncology for Atrium Health Navicent and medical director for Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center. “We are proud of this accreditation as it further supports our mission of providing outstanding quality care that our patients can trust that is close to home.”

Atrium Health Navicent offers certified breast health imaging navigators who work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive breast health services from screening to diagnostic imaging and any required imaging follow-up needed for treatment.

Additionally, patients with dense breast tissue or difficult-to-read mammograms have access to secondary screening using Molecular Breast Imaging. Atrium Health Navicent is one of only a few dozen centers in the nation that provide this cutting-edge technology. High-risk genetic screening and counseling is also offered. Atrium Health Navicent Breast Care Center is also designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by The American College of Radiology’s Commission on Quality and Safety and the Commission on Breast Imaging.
