The Samuel M. Goodrich, M.D. Endowed Healthcare Scholarship is offered each year in honor of long-time Milledgeville OB-GYN Dr. Sam Goodrich. Established in 2008, the scholarship assists students pursuing health care careers. Since its inception, 61 students have received scholarships. Dr. Goodrich took great pride in being able to bring the most current advances in his medical specialty to the Milledgeville community. In his nearly 40-year practice, he delivered thousands of babies and cared for all of his patients with a deep commitment and concern for their well-being.

He lost a brief battle with pancreatic cancer in 2008. It is in his spirit of generosity, his belief in the physician/health care professional-patient relationship, his desire to see the best and the brightest enter health care professions and as an honor to his legacy that the scholarship is endowed and administered.

“We’d like to thank Ms. Ellen Goodrich and the committee that reviews and awards the scholarships each year. Because of their generosity and service, so many local students have received a helping hand in pursuing health care careers,” said Macey Terrell, Navicent Health Foundation’s CEO.
