Application Window Opens for Atrium Health Navicent’s Rise to Success Program

Atrium Health Navicent is now accepting applications for the Rise to Success Program which since 2023 has been offering graduating high school seniors with part-time employment and tuition assistance as they pursue health care careers. Applications are due March 1.

The Rise to Success Program offers participants an opportunity to earn an associate degree at a local community college while gaining valuable on-the- job experience. Tuition, textbooks, activity fees and scrubs are paid for by Atrium Health Navicent.

“As hospitals across the nation continue to face a growing need for health care workers, it’s so very important health systems do all we can to support those interested in pursuing health careers,” said Akilah Griffin, Advocate Health’s talent acquisition lead for Georgia who supports Atrium Health Navicent. “This program helps remove barriers students may face in obtaining a degree, including helping them gain experience and earn an income.”

Eligible fields of study for the Rise to Success program include phlebotomy, pharmacy technology, emergency medical services and paramedic programs, clinical technician, medical laboratory technology, medical assistant, nursing, radiology, surgical technology, occupational therapy and respiratory therapy.

While earning an associate degree in one of these fields, participants will work part-time in entry-level positions such as guest services, patient services, registration, patient transport, nutrition, or in clerical or administrative positions.

Students are encouraged to continue their education after earning an associate degree by transferring to a four-year college or university while still working at Atrium Health Navicent. Students will have access to a career coach who will support their academic work and success throughout the program.

Since the program’s inception, 14 selected students have begun their associate degree, including Shanel Wright, a Rise to Success scholar and 2023 Westside High School graduate who is pursuing a career in nursing.

“The program has truly been a transformational journey for me,” Wright said. “The experiences and knowledge I’ve acquired have not only enhanced my professional skills but have also inspired a deeper passion for my career in health care. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow and make a positive impact in the lives of others through this program.”
