28th Annual Reindeer Run & Santa Stroll Goes Virtual
Annual Race Benefitting Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital to Be Held December 4-6
The 28th Annual Reindeer Run & Santa Stroll - benefiting Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, Navicent Health - will take place virtually this year, and is scheduled to be held December 4-6.
""For the past 28 years, thousands of runners have come to race in downtown Macon in support of our children's hospital. Although we truly wish we could kick off the holiday season by racing together again this year, Navicent Health is committed to supporting COVID Safe behaviors. Rather than cancelling the race, we have chosen to move to a virtual format. All proceeds will continue to benefit Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, and we appreciate our community's support now more than ever,"" said Ellen Johnson, president of Navicent Health Foundation.
The race's virtual format will allow participants to walk or run the 3.1 miles of the Reindeer Run 5k Race in a location of their choice - their neighborhood, a local park or on a treadmill, for example. Participants may also choose a time convenient for them between Friday, December 4 and Sunday, December 6. Participants are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All registered participants will receive a t-shirt and will be able to submit their race results to compare with other participants.

""The Reindeer Run and Santa Stroll is one of Macon's premier races, an event that people look forward to each year to kick off their holiday season. Although the format will be a bit different this year, we look forward to joining virtually with friends and neighbors to promote physical health and wellness, not only for race participants, but for the children we treat,"" said Tom Gibbons, Chair of the Navicent Health Foundation Board of Directors.
Since its inception, the Reindeer Run has raised over $700,000 in support of Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital's mission to elevate health, hope and wellbeing for pediatric patients and their families. As the region's only dedicated pediatric hospital - and as a nonprofit hospital - Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, Navicent Health relies on philanthropic support to provide high quality healthcare to pediatric patients from across the state.
