25th Annual Reindeer Run & Santa Stroll Scheduled for December 2
The 25th Annual Reindeer Run & Santa Stroll - benefiting Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital - will take place on Saturday, December 2. Funds from the race will support the construction of the new Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital facility.
Approximately 1,000 participants will race through downtown Macon in a race that will begin and end at Macon's Tattnall Square Park. There are options available for the entire community, including 5K and 10K runs, and a one-mile stroll.
Those wishing to participate may register online at navicenthealth.org/donate until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 27. Registration will also be available on race day.
"The Reindeer Run and Santa Stroll is an annual holiday tradition and one of Macon's premier races. This event not only promotes physical health and wellness for its participants, but also raises needed funds to assist with the health and wellness of children throughout our region," said Eddie Coker, Director of Diagnostics, Atrium Health Navicent, the race's presenting sponsor.
As a nonprofit hospital, Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital relies on donations to provide high quality healthcare to pediatric patients throughout the region. In June 2016, amid a climate that has seen a number of hospital closures and limited hospital expansion, Atrium Health Navicent announced its intent to construct a new Children's Hospital facility, with plans to begin serving the region's patients in 2019. The new facility, currently under construction at 888 Pine St. in downtown Macon, will be a larger facility with the latest equipment and technologies.
