FAQs about Telehealth, Virtual Primary Care and Urgent Care Video Visits
These video visits from Atrium Health Navicent let you have a live video chat with a qualified health care provider, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you need is a camera-enabled tablet, smartphone, or computer with an internet connection.
Video visits are available to new or existing patients of all ages, from newborns to adults, as long as you're in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia at the time of your visit. We also have pediatric urgent care video visits just for kids, with providers from Atrium Health Levine Children's. They're available 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for ages 0 to 17.
There's a lot of care we can provide over video, but you'll still need to come in person for physical exams and lab work. Sometimes during your video visit, your provider will decide it's best to see you in person. If this happens, you won't be charged for the video visit.
Primary care video visits allow you to connect with your provider or a member of your care team to discuss new health concerns, to follow up on a previous visit, or to check on chronic conditions.
Primary care video visits are available to all ages, including newborns. With virtual primary care video visits, our virtual family medicine providers treat all ages, while our virtual pediatric providers treat ages 0-17.
Atrium Health Navicent uses a patented system to make sure every video visit is HIPAA compliant, secure, and confidential.
Video visits are often the same price as office visits. Insurance coverage varies, and services may be subject to any applicable copays, coinsurance, and deductibles within your health plan. Please call your insurance provider for more information on your specific plan coverage.
No appointment is needed for a 24/7 urgent care video visit. For virtual primary care visits, you'll need to use MyAtriumHealth to schedule a video visit during office hours.
24/7 urgent video visits can be used to treat a wide range of minor conditions, including:
- Animal and insect bites
- Cold or flu symptoms
- Cough
- Ear and eye infections
- Fever
- Newborn worries, including feeding
- Minor cuts, burns, or skin rashes
- Sinus infections and allergies
If you need emergency medical care, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room right away.
You can start your video visit from almost anywhere. You just have to be in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia at the time of your visit.
You need a secure internet connection and phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. You might also need your insurance card and a form of photo identification.
For kids under the age of 18, you'll need to be their legally authorized representative to start or schedule a telehealth visit. Teens who are age 13 and older may have their own MyAtriumHealth account. See how to start a video visit with proxy/dependent access.
Most visits last about 15 minutes:
- Have a valid form of photo identification ready, like a driver's license, military identification, passport, or state-issued identification card.
- After you sign up for a video visit, complete the eCheck-In and then select the “Begin Video Visit” button. A waiting room will open in your web browser where you will wait until a provider is available to join.
- Get connected to a health care provider who will evaluate your symptoms and discuss treatment options with you.
After your visit, the details will be added to your electronic medical record, so your primary care doctor can connect with you seamlessly if you need follow-up care.
