Unlike other online health services, virtual primary care isn’t just for sick visits. It's for all your routine health care needs and up to 150+ conditions, including:
Most conditions can be managed over video, but sometimes in-person visits are still needed. This can include annual physicals, lab work, diagnostic testing and screenings. Children will need to be seen in person for conditions like ear infections.
When in-person care is needed, we’ll help you find an Atrium Health facility or provider nearby. If more specialized services are needed, we’ll assist in connecting you to some of the best specialists and hospitals in the region.
Virtual primary care is health care made easy. Once you pick a virtual primary care online doctor and schedule your first appointment, here’s what to expect:
Because all visits are online via secure video connection, you don’t have to go to the doctor’s office or sit in a waiting room. Instead, just log in to MyAtriumHealth by smartphone, tablet or computer a few minutes before your visit.
For the best experience, make sure you have a strong internet connection and your device’s camera, microphone and speakers are working. You also might need your health insurance card and a form of photo ID. For added privacy, consider using headphones.
Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, seeking care for something new or just trying to stay healthy, each visit is customized for your unique needs. Depending on the reason for your visit, your provider may ask how you're feeling, explain recent labs and testing, and even examine certain physical symptoms.
At the end of your visit, your provider will go over next steps for your care. They’ll also coordinate any follow-up visits if needed.
Many types of virtual care – including urgent care video visits – are just for sick visits or one-time medical needs. However, virtual primary care offers a much broader range of online services. This includes sick visits, as well as preventive medicine, care for chronic diseases, and more.
With virtual primary care, you get the same type of care as in a doctor’s office, but it all takes place online.
Appointments are required and can be made easily online, 7 days a week. Family medicine providers are available 6 a.m.-11 p.m., and pediatric providers are available 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
All visits are with your online doctor or another virtual primary care provider, so you’ll always see a familiar face.
Currently, the costs, fees, and health insurance coverage of virtual primary care are the same as for traditional primary care. Check with your health insurance provider for specific details on what your plan covers.
All you need is a strong internet connection and a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a microphone and camera. You might also need your health insurance card and a form of photo ID.
You'll also need a MyAtriumHealth account. This is our free and secure patient portal, where you’ll have video visits and communicate with your online doctor.
