About Surgical Oncology & Colorectal Surgery

Surgical oncology is a type of cancer care that uses surgery to diagnose, treat and sometimes prevent cancer. Our program also offers surgical care for some benign (non-cancerous) conditions.

Our team of highly trained surgeons includes:

Surgical oncologists, who specialize in diagnosing and treating cancer with surgery
Colorectal surgeons, who focus on conditions of the colon and rectum
Macon’s only hepatobiliary surgeon, who specializes in conditions of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas

Surgery may be used alone or in combination with other treatment approaches. Our surgeons work closely with other specialists – including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators, genetic counselors, and pathologists – to provide an accurate diagnosis and determine the best treatment plan for you.
