Dr. Sushmita Nair is a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist and specializes in the treatment of blood disorders and cancers in children. Her specific clinical interests include childhood leukemia, lymphoma and bone marrow failure syndromes.
Dr. Nair completed her medical school from JIPMER, Pondicherry. In addition, she obtained her postgraduate degree in Pediatrics from PGIMER, Chandigarh-both of which are prestigious medical institutes in India. During Dr. Nair's specialty training, she grew great interest in Pediatric Oncology, and traveled to the United States to further her education in this specialty. Dr. Nair completed her Pediatric residency from Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami and subsequently completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology from University of Florida, Gainesville.
During her fellowship, her research focused on immunotherapy for refractory pediatric leukemia's with Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells. Dr Nair is an active member of national organizations including ASPHO, ASH, has presented several posters and regularly attends their annual meetings. Dr. Nair joined Atrium Health Navicent in May 2016 and is enthusiastic to contribute to patient care. She is currently accepting new patients with benign and malignant blood disorders and solid tumors and related conditions.
