Tubal Reversal Procedure

Two images of a lab technician at workTubal Reversal or Tubal Ligation Reversal is a surgery done on the female after she has elected to have her tubes tied (tubal ligation) as permanent birth control. This change in her decision to reconnect the fallopian tubes to try to help restore her fertility.

If you never had your tubes tied, you would have a 2% chance of getting pregnant in your fallopian tubes instead of your uterus (the normal place to get pregnant). With tubal ligation reversal surgery your risk is about 6% or three times normal. As soon as you have a positive pregnancy test let us know so we can coordinate tests to make sure you do not have an ectopic or tubular pregnancy.

Early tubular pregnancy can be managed with drugs that make surgery unnecessary. Experience with patients with only one fallopian tube who become pregnant in that tube and are treated medically, confirms that pregnancy can be achieved using a fallopian tube that has been cleared of an ectopic pregnancy using medicine.
