Gary Little, MD
Dr. Little currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer Southeast Region of Advocate Health. In this role, Dr. Little leads and coordinates initiatives in Quality Improvement, Health Equity, Patient Safety, Physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) engagement, Clinical Operations, and Care Integration for acute care hospitals in North Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
Working collaboratively across the Atrium Health integrated care network, Dr. Little strives to deliver value to the patients and communities served by the Atrium Health physicians, nurses, clinical and operational team members.
Dr. Little has been with Atrium Health since February 2016 when he was hired as the Chief Medical Officer for Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) and Atrium Health Mercy hospital in Charlotte, NC. CMC is the only level 1 trauma center and quaternary care hospital in Charlotte, while AH Mercy provides highly specialized surgical and advanced medical care to the patients from the Charlotte community. In 2018 Dr. Little was promoted to Chief Medical Officer of Atrium Health's Greater Charlotte Region. Prior to joining Atrium Health, Dr. Little served as Chief Medical Officer of George Washington University Hospital and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Prince George's Hospital Center in Maryland respectively.
