September is National Sickle Cell Month

National Sickle Cell Month was established as a national coordinated approach to addressing issues related to sickle cell disease.

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited form of anemia — a condition in which there aren't enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout your body.

An estimated 100,000 people live with sickle cell disease in the United States.
